The Lakeland Housing Authority has received a national award for its efforts to bring affordable housing to Bartow's seniors. LHA is a 2010 recipient of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials award of merit and a nominee for a National Award of Excellence in Housing and Community Development.

Harris Leadership Award in Bartow on Saturday for her contributions to the community. The award, sponsored by the Greater Bartow Chamber of Commerce, represents the group's most prestigious honor.
Tina Spath, a Cuban immigrant and co-owner of her family's jewelry store in Bartow, was presented the 2008 George W. Harris Jr. Leadership Award by the Greater Bartow Chamber of Commerce on Saturday.
Awards include the coveted $15,000 Raymond James Financial Best of Show Award, Board of Director's Award, Roddy Brownlee Reed Award of Excellence, Mayor's Award, Anniversary Award, Friends of the Museum Award, Awards of Merit (30 selected) and Robert & Elizabeth Sanchez Emerging Artist Award.
Innisbrook, FL-- Garrett Willis has grabbed the early lead in the first round of the Transitions Championship. Willis, who plays out of Lake Jovita in Dade City, shot a 6-under-par 65 on the Copperhead course at the Innisbrook Resort.
