By MERISSA GREEN THE LEDGER Auburndale and Polk County officials kicked a field goal to dedicate the 11 new soccer fields at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex on Monday. During the dedication ceremony, 518 teams from 34 states were participating in the week-long Disney Soccer Showcase.

Auburndale city commissioners Monday night approved an agreement with Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing that will give the city half of the corporate sponsorship money for new baseball facilities at Lake Myrtle Park. City officials anticipate Auburndale will receive $70,000 next year as a result of the agreement.
