The National Weather Service in Ruskin has issued a Tornado Warning for Hernando & Pasco Counties and Tornado Watch for much of the Tampa Bay area until 1 p.m. this afternoon.
A tornado warning has been issued for Pasco and Hernando Counties. There is indication of a tornado near Weeki Wachee and Spring Hill. The tornado warning is in effect until 2:45 for western Hernando and northwest Pasco County. A tornado watch is also in effect until 8 p.m. for all of West-Central Florida. In addition to being the lightning capital of the country, Florida also leads the way in the number of tornadoes that have touched down over a 60 year period, according to Weather Channel tornado expert Dr. Greg Forbes.
